Some things can only be learnt via the oral tradition, and are only spoken of in whispers. During my time of studying with the Voudon Hougans I noticed they observe certain taboos, and will not cross that boundary even if people offered palaces of gold. I was told there is a reason they won´t go to dark places, and the reason is what happens after Death.
As the Necromancers know, certain acts of Black Magic are so foul to the Universal Laws, the Lwa, that they shift the vibration of the Soul of those who engage in them. And so the dead Bokor or Caplata face a very harsh fate in afterlife which makes them regret often when they are called by their surviving loved ones in the rites of ancestral worship, they cry and tell them that they cannot see them, and come to them. They are separated from their loved ones, in a different place.
The second reason is, when the Tabboo is broken by a practitioner who has children, this fate is passed onto them, and so it is often only the childless, and the renegade, who engage in the most vile forms of Black Magic.
