Meaning of the Alchemical Wedding

The Alchemical Wedding is, in a sense, the opposite of the most commonly given reason for divorce – it lies in overcoming the [seemingly irreconcilable] differences. Not between you and another person, but within you. It is reached by reconciling, expressing openly and fully at the same time opposing and powerful passions, love and hate, resentment and sentiment, lust and repulsion. Repressing hatred is unhealthy, I learned that first, but then repressing love is just as unhealthy. The Alchemical Wedding lies in the middle ground that apparently doesn’t exist, where there is no need to ‘choose sides’. Contrary passions can coexist, the acceptance of them both is the real Alchemical Wedding.
