This is one thing that I have learned that goes against the vain nature of the Black Magician: when powerful magic hits that is backed by a higher power you need to back the fuck off.
We all think we can stop things, and rule the world, nah.
It is kind of counterintuitive to back off when your sole intention is to help protect your friend or ally, and you see them dealing with an undeniable onslaught of dark powers that has entered their life.
It’s happened more than once to me though that I recognized the need to get out of the way of Higher Power, and told all of my magical allies to stop. Sometimes, they backed off in silence themselves, giving me guilty looks full of scare, hope for me, and disbelief. Of the guilt, I have to absolve them and say ‘It’s okay it’s powerful shit I will not see you as a traitor for this. You need to get out of the way. You did right, my friend.’
It’s been difficult for me as well, when I was told to cut my friend loose and I resisted, insisted on helping them, I paid a heavy price. Was it worth it? I don’t know. I think in the end, I made it worse for them, trying to stop their downfall.
On a similar note, sometimes Lucifer will ask me to douse a burning feud & cooperate. I was startled at His request, but too wise to not disobey. Actually, that’s his favorite line… ‘Do not resist me’ and ‘Do not disobey me’. Well, you can but… in the end, you will always have to get out of the way of magic.
